How to find a Telegram user ID
- Your own ID: many Telegram clients show it on the profile screen; you can also use a well-known ID bot. Never share login codes with any bot.
- Another user's ID: forward one of their messages to an ID bot, or ask them for it.
- Usernames do not work: the tool needs the numeric ID, because the estimate is based on the number itself.
How the estimate works
Telegram issued user IDs roughly in sequence, so lower numbers generally belong to older accounts. The checker compares the ID with public reference points of known IDs and registration times and estimates the period between them. The reference set has 59 points: 43 from November 2013 to October 2021, and 16 from December 2021 to November 2025, made from the median ID of each quarter among 168 accounts with known dates. Every result shows its own likely window, so you can see how precise that particular estimate is. Reference data: the open-source tdage project and, from December 2021, the open-source CreationDate dataset (both MIT License).

Check with Telegram itself: the "joined Telegram" date
Since March 2025, when someone who is not in your contacts messages you for the first time, Telegram shows a contact confirmation page with their phone country and when they joined Telegram (month and year), plus when they last changed their username or photo (Telegram, March 2025).
- Use one of your accounts that does not have the other account saved as a contact.
- Ask the account you are checking to send it a first message.
- Open the chat and read the joined date on the info page before replying.
This is the strongest age evidence for an account, because it comes from Telegram. Buying an aged account? Ask the seller to do this check live, and repeat it after delivery. Use the estimate below when you only have a user ID.
How accurate is it?
It is an estimate. The result shows the window between the two nearest reference points: for accounts from 2013 to mid-2017 that window is usually one to four months, but between mid-2017 and late 2021 the public reference data is sparse, so the window can span about two years. For accounts from 2022 to 2025 the checker shows about four months either way, because Telegram does not hand out new IDs in strict order. It cannot prove when a specific account was created. IDs above the last reference point (November 2025) are newer than the data, so the result only says late 2025 or later. How do I check how old my Telegram account is?

Is the result the exact creation date?
No. Telegram has no public lookup of registration dates by ID. It does show the month and year an account joined on the contact confirmation screen when that account messages you for the first time; this tool instead matches the user ID against known reference points, because IDs were issued roughly in order, to estimate a period.
Can I check someone else's account?
Only with their numeric user ID, and only as an estimate. Treat it as one signal, never as proof of identity or trustworthiness.
Does it work for accounts made after 2021?
Yes, up to about November 2025. Those estimates come from quarterly reference points and are less precise, so expect about four months either way. IDs above the last point are newer than the data.
Does an older account mean it is safer?
Not by itself. An older creation date is one characteristic; behaviour, restrictions and security settings matter more.
