Every group and channel has a main invite link, and admins can make as many extra links as they need. Each link can have its own limits and shows who joined through it.

Quick answer

Open the group or channel, tap its name, then Edit (or Manage) and Invite Links. Copy the main link, or tap Create a New Link to set a member limit, an expiry date or join requests.

1. Where is the invite link?

  1. Open the group or channel and tap its name at the top.
  2. Tap Edit or Manage, then Invite Links. In some versions the link is shown right on the info page.
  3. Copy or share the main link, or show it as a QR code.

Only admins with the right to invite users can see and share invite links.

2. Create a new link

  • In Invite Links, tap Create a New Link.
  • Give it a name so you know where you posted it.
  • Set a limit on how many people can join with it, and an expiry date if you want.
  • Each link shows how many people joined through it, which helps you see which place brought members.

3. Change or revoke a link

If a link leaked or spam started to come through it, revoke it. Open the link in Invite Links and choose Revoke; the old link stops working at once. For the main link, revoking creates a new main link automatically.

A link that says it expired or is invalid was usually revoked or ran out. Read invite link expired for the reasons.

4. Approve people before they join

Turn on Request Admin Approval for a link. People who open it send a join request, and an admin approves or declines each one. That keeps bots and spammers out of a private group.

5. Public link instead of an invite link

A public group or channel has a username and a link like t.me/name that anyone can find in search. A private one is reached only through invite links. You can switch between the two in the group or channel type settings.
