Telegram language: switch to Persian, English or any other.

Telegram's menus can be shown in many languages, including Persian. Here is where to change it on each device and how to make the text easier to read.

The app language changes only Telegram's menus and buttons. Your messages, channels and contacts stay exactly as they are.

Quick answer

Open Settings, tap Language and choose a language, for example Persian (فارسی) or English. On Telegram Desktop it is Settings, Language. The change is instant.

1. On Android and iPhone

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Language.
  3. Choose the language you want. The menus switch at once.

If the menus are already in a language you cannot read, look for the globe icon in Settings: it is always the Language item.

2. On Telegram Desktop

Open the menu, then Settings, then Language, and pick a language. Telegram Desktop may ask to restart to apply it.

3. The language is not in the list

  • Update Telegram from the official store or telegram.org; old versions have fewer languages.
  • Besides the official languages, Telegram's translation platform has community languages, which you can add from a language link.
  • Only add language links from sources you trust: a language pack changes the text of the app's buttons.

4. Make the text easier to read

Telegram does not let you change the font itself on Android or iPhone, but you can change the text size. Open Settings, then Chat Settings or Appearance, and move the message text size slider. On iPhone the system text size also applies.

5. Messages in other languages

The app language does not translate messages. To read messages in another language, turn on the Translate button, as shown in our Telegram translation guide.
